Best Time for Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek

While trekking in Nepal, selecting the best time is crucial for a successful journey. For Ghorepani Poon Hill, also choosing the ideal time to maximize enjoyment and minimize the difficulties. However, Ghorepani Poon Hill faces four distinct seasons, and selecting the best time for the trek depends on the trekkers’ preferences and what they expect during their trek. Here is a brief information about each season so that trekkers can choose the best time for them by themselves.

Spring ( Pre-Monsoon)

Spring is one of the favorite times to trek Ghorepani and Poon Hill, which starts in March and ends in May. The Blossom of rhododendrons is one of the key highlights of trekking in Spring. During this time, the days are warm and clear, with an average temperature ranging from 10°C to 20°C, and nights are even cooler but manageable. The visibility of the mountain is also incredible during Spring. Moreover, the incredible views, the rhododendrons blossom, and the mild temperature make Spring the best time to explore the Ghorepani Poonhill.

Summer (Monsoon)

Summer is one of the warmest times of the year, from June to August, with temperatures ranging from 15°C to 25°C. The trek’s significant highlights during this time are lush green vegetation and misty mountain views. However, the season is also monsoon season, bringing heavy rainfall, making the trail slippery and increasing the risk of landslides.

Autumn (Post-monsoon)

Autumn is another most preferred peak time for 4 day Poon Hill trek. From September to November, Autumn comes with mild and stable weather, making the trekking experience pleasant and comfortable. The time brings a clear sky, providing the mountain views crystal-clear. The temperature ranges from 10°C to 20°C during the day during Autumn. However, the trail will be full of fellow trekkers due to peak season.

Winter

Winter, from December to February, is a peaceful time for trekking in Poon Hill. However, it is the coldest season that comes with harsh weather. The temperature of the Ghorepani area ranges from 5°C to 7°C during the day and below minus degrees at night. Snow covering the trail, clear skies with spectacular views of mountain peaks, and a tranquil environment make the trek atmosphere magical during the time. Yet, harsh weather, snowy trails, and the risk of avalanches make it quite unsuitable for trekking.
