Transportation During Langtang Gosaikunda Trek
When trekking with us, we arrange all transportation towards the Langtang Gosaikunda Lake Trek. We will start our journey from Kathmandu Valley. Our guide will pick you up and take you to the bus stand, as we will be traveling through a bus. Upon reaching Machhapokhari Bus Park, we will hop on the bus, which takes around 7 to 8 hours to ride. Our resting stop will be Syaburbesi, which is also the starting point of the journey towards Gosaikunda Lake.
Once our trek comes to an end, we will again take a bus ride back to Kathmandu Valley from Sundarijal. The rise is just about an hour long. It is important to understand that the local bus in Nepal can sometimes be overcrowded (especially if you are trekking during the peak season: Autumn and Spring). Although this trek can be quite adventurous and easy, the bumpy sections in some areas can be quite tiring. The ride can be a perfect adventure for you if you are a foreigner.
On the ride, you will pass through many remote villages and witness the distant views of the Himalayas. We would happily book a private jeep for you and your group if you would like a more comfortable alternative. In your request, we will book private transportation for $150 from Kathmandu to Syabrubesi and from Sundarijal to Kathmandu for $30-$40.

After a steep ascent, you’ll experience an incredible panorama that includes Langtang Lirung, Ganchenpo (6,387 meters), and distant views of the Tibetan Plateau. The sunrise from Tserko Ri is particularly mesmerizing as the peaks light up. It offers you with a breathtaking experience of the Langtang Himalayas.
Gosaikunda Lake
Gosaikunda Lake sits at 4,380 meters and is a sacred site for both Hindus and Buddhists. The transparent, icy waters of this lake are enclosed by rugged cliffs and peaks full of snow, creating a really breathtaking natural amphitheater. You can also clearly see peaks from a distance, including Langtang Lirung and Ganesh Himal. Due to its religious importance and tranquil atmosphere, this lake is undoubtedly the highlight of the trek.
Langtang Valley
Langtang Valley stretches at an average altitude of around 3,500 meters and is surrounded by lush forests, river crossings, and dramatic mountain views. The peaks that form a stunning backdrop while walking through this valley include the likes of Langtang Lirung, Dorje Lakpa, and Langshisha Ri. The valley shows the resilience of the local Tamang community, creating a warm, welcoming environment for trekkers.
Lauribinayak’s Pass
Lauri Binayak Pass is located between Gosaikunda and Ghopte, which are key points on the Langtang Gosaikunda Circuit. Nested at an altitude of approximately 4,610 meters (15,125 feet), the path towards this pass is rocky and steep. You must prepare yourself for high altitude challenges and varying weather conditions. Upon reaching there, you will witness the panoramic views of the Langtang Himalayas, including peaks like Langtang Lirung, Dorje Lakpa, and Shishapangma.
Accommodations Options In Gosaikunda Trek via Langtang Valley
The most common means of accommodation during Langtang Gosaikunda Trek are lodges/teahouses. The lodges on the trek offer a mix of basic and standard accommodations. They let you experience the warm hospitality of the Tamang and Sherpa people. At lower altitudes, rooms have beds, pillows, mattresses, and warm blankets and usually come with attached bathrooms.
As you climb higher, the rooms become simpler, with foam mattresses, beds, pillows, and blankets. Facilities like Wi-Fi and hot showers are usually only available in lower-altitude lodges; at higher elevations, expect shared squat toilets and bucket showers with hot water. On the Langtang Gosaikunda Trek, you will stay in lodges for 11 nights along the trail.
Your first night will be in a hotel in Syabrubesi with a private bathroom. During the trek, you will have 1 night in lodges with private bathrooms at Thulo Syabru. You will also stay two nights in Kathmandu, one before and one after your trek. These hotel stays are not included in the package, but many hotels in Kathmandu fit different budgets.
Meals During Langtang Gosaikunda Trek
The Langtang Gosaikunda Trek takes you to high altitudes, so eating nutritious food is important to keep your energy up. You will get a variety of meal options during the trek, but you won’t have as many choices as in the cities. The menu includes traditional, Asian, and Western foods, but it will become more limited as you climb higher. We highly recommend eating fresh vegetables and drinking plenty of liquids like green tea, lemon tea, hot lemon, ginger tea, and garlic soup at high altitudes. Although there are non-vegetarian options, we advise against them since the meat may not be safe to eat in these remote areas. Similarly, experts recommend avoiding dairy, alcohol, caffeinated drinks, and hot chocolate while trekking at high elevations.
Communication, Internet, and Electricity
During the Langtang Gosaikunda Trek, you will have access to internet service at the lodges, but there may be an extra charge for it. At higher altitudes, communication for safety reasons will primarily be done through phones. Our office stays in touch with all trekking teams at least once a day via the lead guide to ensure everyone is doing well. You can also buy a local SIM card in Kathmandu, but be aware that signal strength may vary.
Electricity will be available in the lodges along the trek, allowing you to recharge your camera and mobile devices, although there may be an additional fee for this service. You can purchase bottled mineral water from local lodges and shops along the route, or you can fill your water bottle with boiled water for a fee. If you need it, we can provide water purification pills to help ensure your drinking water is safe.
Internet access is limited during the trek. Some lower-altitude lodges may offer Wi-Fi, but the connection can be slow and unreliable. As you ascend to higher elevations, internet access becomes scarce, and you should not rely on it for communication or navigation. If you need to stay connected, consider purchasing a local SIM card in Kathmandu, which can help with mobile data when the signal allows.
Acclimatization on the Langtang Gosaikunda Trek
On your 13-day Langtang Gosaikunda Trek, you will spend most nights above 3,500 meters, which increases the risk of altitude sickness, also known as acute mountain sickness. To help your body adjust, we will spend time acclimatizing at Kyanjin Gompa. During this acclimatization period, you can explore the Kyanjin Gompa monastery, visit the cheese factory, or hike to the Tserko Ri viewpoint for stunning views.
Altitude sickness can affect anyone, and serious cases need immediate attention, so it is important not to ignore any symptoms. Our trek leaders and guides are trained in first aid and have a lot of experience dealing with altitude-related issues. If you notice any signs of altitude sickness, let your group leader or guide know right away. They will advise you on preventing it. If the situation gets worse, make you descend quickly to a lower altitude.
Difficulty Level of Langtang Valley and Gosaikunda Trek
The Langtang Valley and Gosaikunda Trek is considered a challenging trek, especially due to the high altitudes and rough terrain. You will need to be comfortable with long hours of walking each day, often on steep and rocky paths. This trekking route passes through dense forests and high mountain passes until it reaches Gosaikunda Lake, at over 4,300 meters in altitude. Physical endurance is essential, as well as some previous trekking experience, if possible.
The varying weather conditions add to the trek’s difficulty. At higher altitudes, temperatures can drop quickly, especially in the mornings and evenings, and the weather may change unexpectedly. Being prepared for both hot and cold conditions, as well as rainy spells, is important. Proper gear will help you stay comfortable, but you will need to be mentally ready for these changing elements, as they can test your resilience.
It pays back in terms of breathtaking views and tranquil ambiance that the difficulties involved with the trek become worthwhile. However, this trek is challenging; it is extremely rewarding in terms of scenery and a glimpse into Nepal’s mountain culture. With adequate preparation, a good level of fitness, and a positive mindset, you will be well-equipped to complete the Langtang Valley and Gosaikunda Trek successfully.

Additionally, to build strength, you can include exercise that focuses on your legs, core, and upper body. As well as practice hiking with a weighted backpack to simulate the trek conditions.
Mental Preparation
Being mentally ready is equally important as being physically prepared. In this way, you should familiarize yourself with the challenges you are going to go through, which include walking, varying weather conditions, and adjustments to altitude. You can also include mindfulness techniques such as meditation and visualization to help your journey. You should also work on cultivating a positive mindset. The overall preparation not only helps you complete the journey with ease but also offers you an amazing and safe experience.

Langtang Gosaikunda Trek Travel Insurance
For the Langtang Valley and Gosaikunda Lake Trek, it’s essential to have travel insurance due to the risk of high-altitude sickness and other potential issues. Though these incidents are rare, this trek reaches remote and high-altitude areas where help can be challenging to access. You will need a comprehensive travel insurance policy which should cover medical expenses and emergency rescues, including helicopter evacuations.
If you need help choosing an insurance company, we can only suggest some good insurance companies’ names based on feedback from previous trekkers. However, we don’t sell insurance directly. In case of an emergency, we will contact your insurance provider to arrange a rescue and hospital transfer if needed. After booking your trek, please send us your insurance details for quick processing if an urgent situation arises.
This is considered a hard trek with high altitude, steep ascents, and narrow paths, which may cause accidents. Good insurance coverage protects you from large, unexpected costs if an accident or health issue happens. We recommend that the following be included in your policy: medical expenses, emergency helicopter rescue, and high-altitude trekking up to at least 5,500 meters. This will give you peace of mind, knowing you’re fully prepared for any situation.

Its popularity is due to autumn not only offering you natural beauty but also giving you a chance to witness the two major festivals of Nepal, Dashain, and Tihar.
- Clear skies and excellent visibility of mountain ranges
- Comfortable weather with crisp air and minimal rainfall
- Rich cultural experience from local festivals like Dashain and Tihar
Winter
December to February
If you want to experience the landscapes covered with blankets of white snow, consider trekking in the winter season. This season is ideal for you if you have some prior experience and want to witness the beautiful white snowfall. However, the extreme cold temperature below -5 degrees can be quite challenging for you. Make sure you pack proper clothing materials if you are trekking in the winter season.
- Quiet, less crowded trails with serene snow-covered landscapes
- Sunny, dry days despite colder temperatures at high altitudes
- Magical winter scenery and peaceful trekking conditions
