Are you ready for your adventure? Get started packing your backpack as your journey through a scenic drive to Dhap Bazar on the first day. Your journey begins with a drive from Kathmandu through BP Highway on a comfortable jeep. The drive takes you through winding roads, lush hills, terraced farmlands, and alongside the Sunkoshi River. Kathmandu to Dhap Bazaar is approximately 230 km (142 miles) by road. The drive typically takes around 8–9 hours, depending on road conditions, weather, and traffic along the route.

Leaving on the main highway, the bumpy road offers a thrilling off-road experience. Eight to nine hours of drive from Kathmandu takes you to Dhap Bazar, a charming village and a gateway to Pikey Peak. Your overnight stay and dinner are at the tea house of Dhap Bazar.

Today’s trek takes you closer to your ultimate destination. After breakfast at Jhapre’s tea house, start walking to get Pikey Base Camp on the day. Leaving Jhapre, the trail ascends to a grassy ridge at Bhulbhule with a lovely view of the Everest range. Today, the trail mixes gentle climbs and occasional steep sections. Involve in cardio exercises like running and swimming to improve heart and lung strength, jump squats to develop power in your legs, walking lunges to build leg, hip, and core strength, and improve balance.

7 Days Trek Route to Pikey Peak

The seven-day Pikey Peak trekking itinerary takes trekkers through a relatively short yet incredibly scenic route through the lower Everest region of Nepal. The journey begins with a drive to Phaplu. From there, you can journey on foot along the gentle terrain of Khumbu Valley towards Jhampre. The first glimpse of Numbur Himal comes into view on the first day of the trail.

From Jhampre, the journey takes you to Pikey Base Camp on the third day. The section contains numerous stupas, monasteries, and old, rusty yak houses. Moreover, the trail passes through the grassy ridges and forested terrains. The fourth day is the remarkable day that takes you to your ultimate destination, Pikey Peak. The day begins early in the morning to witness the stunning sunrise view over Himalayan peaks.

The trek returns after spending a pleasant time at the summit of Pikey Peak return to Loading for an overnight stay. The trail descends to Junbesi from loading on the fifth day. There, you can visit the ancient Thubten Choeling Monastery in Junbesi. Continue your descent to Phaplu from Junbesi on the sixth day, which marks the final stretch to Pikey Peak trek. The journey ends with a drive back to Kathmandu from Phaplu with a scenic drive.

Food and Accommodation on Pikey Peak Trek

There are numerous alternative routes to the Pikey Peak trek. However, one of the popular alternative routes begins with a drive from Kathmandu to Dhap. The real adventure begins with a trek from Dhap village to Jhapre, which takes about 4-5 hours. The trail and trekking experience is the same from Jhapre, which takes trekkers to Pikey Peak Base Camp on the third day through yak pastures and rhododendron forests, taking around six hours. And fourth takes you to the ultimate destination, Pikey Summit, from where trekkers can witness a panoramic sunrise view over Mount Everest, Kanchenjunga, Makalu, and Annapurna.

The journey from Pikey Peak summit descent to Junbesi on the fifth day. Day fifth starts with a visit to Thupteb Choling monastery and then descends to Phaplu, walking through forests and traditional villages. Likewise, the final day is a drive from Phaplu to Kathmandu.
